Awareness

Through the OutreachISE Awareness initiative, we are engaging our students and faculty to create memorable experiences and share academic and professional opportunities in industrial and systems engineering (ISE) with groups of middle-school, high-school and college students, as well as with other young professionals looking to enter graduate education.

We have a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the relationships between Lehigh ISE students, alumni, and the broader community:

  • we have a K-12 outreach team that has been putting together activities and running them each semester with our colleagues at Liberty High School‘s Project Lead the Way Engineering Class and first year undeclared Lehigh Engineering students.
  • we are working on a Lehigh ISE podcast to share stories from Lehigh ISE students, faculty, alumni, and friends;
  • we create opportunities for students and alumni to network, share their passion for ISE, and get training on relevant tools;
  • we have re-activated our local IISE Student Chapter, and we are conducting local plant trips and student outreach events:
  • we organize a number of events to celebrate and recognize achievements in our community, such as the ISE research symposium, graduation parties, and the annual Lehigh ISE Awards Ceremony.

We also collaborate with and support a number of Lehigh University and Lehigh Valley programs and initiatives, such as:

  • CHOICES, which gives middle-school girls an opportunity to learn about engineering;
  • Iaccoca Global (IGEI) Entrepreneurship Program, which helps high-school students from all around the world develop as leaders, global citizens, and entrepreneurs;
  • Lehigh Women in Engineering (LWE), which supports young women engineers to transition and get integrated in the campus, social, and professional fabric;
  • Lehigh chapters of SWE, NSBE, SHPE, SASE, which support students from minority backgrounds underrepresented in STEM fields to attend conferences and professional development opportunities;
  • Rossin College of Engineering Open House, Specialty Tours, STEM Squad, and STEAM Expos, which showcase how industrial and systems engineering provides exciting and rewarding career paths for prospective and future Lehigh engineering students;
  • DaVinci Science Center Career Connection Days and WISE Forum;
