Big Ride Day 6

After the rest day yesterday, everyone's legs felt really strong today. Mine felt great! I left late today as usual and was one of the last people out of camp. However, with flat terrain and a strong tailwind, I made record time across the Washington border to Idaho. The beginning of the day in Washington and into part of Idaho was spent on a dedicated bike trail that runs from Spokane called the Centennial Trail. It's a really nice, wide, paved path running beside the Spokane River. What a break not to have to ride on the roads.

With the tailwind, it seemed like the entire ride was downhill today and I made it into camp by 1:30! The scenery in Idaho is just as beautiful as Washington. So far, it's been mostly pine forest and since we're already halfway through the state, I guess that's what it will be all the way.

I ended up riding with various different people throughout the day and keeping a pretty good pace so I was one of the first ones into camp. I was so early today that the showers weren't even set up yet when I got in. Tonight, we're going to be shuttled into town for dinner, which should be nice. Sandpoint is a quaint little "New Englandy" town. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to poke around a little. Tomorrow, we have some big climbs so I want to get a good night's sleep and an early start.
